The repeated bronchitis indicates chronic bronchitis that is a more serious condition. The coughing can be productive (with sputum) or none-productive cough. Sputum is frothy, clear or white, with large quantity. It may be yellowish in severe cases. A non-productive cough may be high-pitched ‘metallic’ or ‘brassy’ coughing caused by the pressure on the trachea.
