Pulmonary edema is a medical condition in which there are too much of fluid accumulation in the lung, which makes gas exchange (oxygen/carbon dioxide) difficult. Heart problem is the major factor causing the edema in the lung.
Symptoms include the shortness of breath, cough with frothy sputum, chest tightness and sweating. Symptoms are getting worse at night, and relieved by sitting up. There is paroxysmal nocturnal dyspnea. Chronic pulmonary edema may have wheezing, swelling in legs or arms.
