Palpitations by Hyperthyroidism
Hyperthyroidism is a medical condition in which the thyroid gland produces excessive amount of thyroid hormone which increase the metabolism or activities of the body. Hyperthyroidism can produce rapid heartbeat or irregular heartbeat, all causing perceptive palpitations or pounding of the heart. Several medical conditions including Graves’ disease, thyroid adenoma, and thyroiditis can cause hyperthyroidism.
Besides the palpitations, there are typical symptoms of hyperthyroidism include shakiness, tremors, nervous appearance, malaise and weight loss, due to hyper-metabolism rate caused by hyperthyroidism. There are also swelling thyroid gland or Goiter, and bulging eyes.
