Cyanosis by Raynaud’s Phenomenon
Raynaud’s disease or Raynaud’s phenomenon is the reduced or loss of blood supplies to parts of the body, often affecting the fingers or toes, due to cold temperature or during the emotional stress. The cause is not exactly known, but it occurs more often in adult women.
Symptoms include numbness, coldness and cyanosis in affected parts of the body, most often fingers or toes. There may be seen the classic episode of Raynaud’s discoloration: skin turns to pale/white in cold temperature becoming numb, then, the affected skin often turns blue when oxygen is depleted, and then, the skin may change to red, feeling tingle, when return warm environment. This is so-called three colors changes.
