Parotid Swelling by Sjögren’s Syndrome
Sjogren’s syndrome is a medical condition in which the secretory or exocrine glands are affected by the abnormal function in immune systems. Exocrine glands include sweat glands, lacrimal glands (produce tears), and salivary glands (produce saliva). Therefore, Sjogrens’s syndrome causes dry skin, dry eye, and dry mouth. It occurs more in women.
Sjogrens’ symptoms causes the parotid swelling (both sides) due to the inflammation of salivary glands.
