Dyspnea is a shortness of breath or breathlessness with rapid and difficult breathing. It is the feeling of making extra-efforts to catch the breath, in contrast to normal seemingly effortless breathing. Any condition that causes the carbon dioxide accumulation (or less oxygen) in the blood will produce dyspnea, such as lung and heart diseases, as well as regular exercise.
