The meningitis is an acute inflammation of the meninges, the membrane that surrounds the brain. It is caused by the viral or bacterial infection. It happens more often in children and young adults.

Symptoms include high fever due to the infection, headache, neck stiffness due to increased neck muscle tone, and nausea/vomiting.  The headache is severe associated with severe vomiting and fever, followed with neck stiffness or Nuchal rigidity.
