Eye Floater by Retinal Detachment

Eye Floater by Retinal Detachment

Retinal detachment is the rapture of retina from the eyeball, which usually is the result of progressive PVD or retinal tears (please see these two entries). Head or eye trauma, eye inflammation and diabetes may also cause retinal detachment.

Retinal detachment is a serious condition and may cause vision blindness. Please seek immediate medical treatment when there are following warning signs: Sudden appearance or increase in number and size of floaters along with sudden flashes of light in the affected eye. The flashes of light indicate that the retinal is pulled away. The floaters look like the dark haze or cloud. As the detachment progresses, you may see a large shadow or curtain in the eye.
