Chest Pain by Pleurisy (pleuritis)

Chest Pain by Pleurisy (pleuritis)

Pleurisy is an inflammation of the pleura, a sac-like membrane that surrounds the lungs. The inflamed pleura cause sharp chest pain that worsens during the breathing. Pleurisy usually comes with other symptoms including fever/chill, dry cough, and shortness of breath. The chest pain caused by pleurisy is located at either left or right chest (depending on which side is inflamed), and worsened in deep breathing, and lying down or at supine position.
