Cyanosis by Peripheral Vascular Disease

Peripheral vascular (artery) disease (PVD or PAD) is a medical condition in which the small arteries that supply blood to organs and limbs are narrowed or blocked causing pain and the lack of blood to the affect parts of the body.  PVD can be caused by atherosclerosis, fatty deposits, or can be the part of a chronic medical condition such diabetes, high blood pressure, smoking, etc.

Mild PVD doesn’t usually have noticeable symptoms. Since it affected mostly in leg arteries, typical PVD symptoms include leg pain, numbness, soreness, and coldness.  Other symptoms include skin cyanosis, ulcers, and limping.
