Cyanosis by Congenital Heart Defects

Cyanosis by Congenital Heart Defects

Congenital heart defects or congenital heart disease is a medical condition in which there is a defect structure in the heart which is present at the birth. It causes the chronic abnormal function of heart, and affects the growth and development.

Symptoms vary depending on the severity of the defect. Most common symptom is the cyanosis due to the lack of blood/oxygen supply to the body from the defected heart. Cyanosis is seen most in fingers/toes, lips, and cheeks. There are the shortness of breath, dizziness/fainting, and heart murmur/palpitations.

Chronic heart diseases may change nail color, appearance, shape and texture. In particular, clubbing nails or drumstick fingers in which nails curve down more than normal around fingertips are often seen with heart diseases.

Please to go see your doctor for diagnosis and treatments if there are above symptoms, or any sign that concern you.
