Parotid Swelling by Sarcoidosis

Sarcoidosis is the inflammation caused by the immune system disorder. It affects in the different parts of the body, seen more in skin, lymph nodes, eyes, but also causes parotid gland enlargement. The reason for sarcoidosis is not exactly known, and it occurs more in young adult.

Symptoms are not apparent. Since it’s likely to affects multiple parts of the body, there may be low-grade fever, malaise, or noticeable swollen lymph nodes. When parotid glands are affected, parotid swelling happens on both sides. Dry mouth may occur due to reduced salary gland function by sarcoidosis.
