Nausea & Vomiting by Intussusception

Nausea & Vomiting by Intussusception

This is a condition in which a part of the intestine slides/folds into another part of the intestine resulting in narrowing or blocking the intestine. Therefore, intussusception is a medical emergency, and is seen more in infant and young children.

Symptoms usually start with intermittent abdominal pain with nausea/vomiting, bloating, and, as it progresses, rectal bleeding with blood in stool. The stool, at times, can be the mix of blood and intestine mucus with red currant jelly appearance.  There may be a palpable mass in the abdomen.

Please go to see your doctor as quickly as possible if there are any above signs or symptoms.
