Hematemesis (Vomiting blood) by Erosive Gastritis

Hematemesis (Vomiting blood) by Erosive Gastritis

This is the condition of stomach mucosal erosion or inner lining inflammation caused usually by the adverse effects of medicines, excessive alcohol consumption, physiologic stress, and infections.

Symptoms are the upper abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting. The vomiting may contain blood due to the mucosal bleeding. Depending on the severity of the condition, hematemesis is blood traces and chunks, or complete blood.  There may be melena, the dark blood stools when the bleeding is continuous.

Mild condition may last a couple of days. If it is continuous or you are vomiting blood, please go to see your doctor for diagnosis and treatment.
