Blood in Stool by Ischemic Colitis

Ischemic Colitis

This is the condition in which the blood supplies to the intestine (usually large intestine like the colon) are reduced or blocked consequently leading to ischemic damage and inflammation of the affected intestine. Ischemic colitis is seen more in the older age > 60 year old.

Symptoms are abdominal pain with tenderness belly (pushing pain), abdominal bloating, fever, and rectal bleeding. The bleeding causes blood in stool (bright red color), or void blood alone. There may be hemoptysis or vomiting blood at times.

Please go to see your doctor for diagnosis and treatments if you experience any above symptoms, or any sign that concern you.
