Anemia by Sickle-Cell Disease

Sickle-Cell Disease

Sickle cell anemia is an inherited disease in which red blood cells become abnormal sickle-shaped cell. Unlike normal red blood cells, these abnormal red blood cells don’t carry oxygen. Even worst, they tend to get stuck in blood vessels further diminishing oxygen supplies to parts of the body.

Symptoms include anemia (pale skin and nail beds) duet to the lack of red blood cells, painfulness in the affected parts of the body due to lack of oxygen, and swollen hand or feet due to the blockage of blood vessel.

Treatments: if there are signs of anemia and the episodes of pain, please go to see your doctor for diagnosis and treatment.
