Toxic Multinodular Goiter

This is also called multinodular goiter, a common cause of hyperthyroidism. Therefore, the symptoms are the same as those of hyperthyroidism. Iodine deficiency can lead to toxic multinodular goiter. This is mostly a disorder of the elderly and women.

Symptoms: rapid heartbeat, hyperactivity, fatigue, weight loss, and other hyperthyroidism symptoms. However, it usually doesn’t have the bulging eyeballs associated with Graves disease.  It feels soft with several nodules on the thyroid.
