Mumps or Parotid Swelling

Mumps is a viral illness that affects the parotid glands. The parotid glands are located at the side of chins and below the ears. It produces saliva.

Symptoms include swollen parotid gland that may be accompanied with fever or loss of appetite. Swollen parotid gland(s) is painful swelling, and become worse while chewing or swallowing.

Treatments: it heals in two or three weeks. However, if there is very painful parotid glands and fever, please contact your doctor for the diagnosis and treatment.
