Hearing Loss by Medication-Induced Ototoxicity

Medication-Induced Ototoxicity

This is the loss of hearing by medication or drugs. Some drugs in the categories of antibiotics, loop diuretics, chemotherapeutic agents and others can damage the inner ear and cause “sensorineural” hearing loss. Hearing loss occurs after taking the medication and may continue progress.

Treatments: This type of hearing loss is preventable. Please go to see your doctor if there is hearing loss, vertigo or tinnitus when undergoing a therapeutic treatment.
